EU Policy Campaigner With focus on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

Greenpeace has established itself as a major player in the European debate on GMOs. Our campaign has substantially contributed to protecting European consumers and the environment from GMO releases and contamination and this success has had global repercussions. Greenpeace is now looking for a committed and passionate environmentalist to continue our work at EU-level and to contribute to our international campaign. This person will be working within a team that also addresses the environmental impact of agriculture, as part of our European Unit based in Brussels.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contributing political expertise, creativity and strategic advice to Greenpeace's campaign against genetically modified organisms
  • Maintaining close relations with the EU institutions
  • Developing a network of relevant contacts and representing Greenpeace
  • Co-ordinating advocacy work of national Greenpeace campaigners in the EU
  • Addressing the media, political and professional audiences

Profile:

  • Persuasive environmentalist
  • General EU political expertise and advocacy capacity
  • Familiar with scientific, legal and financial aspects of EU policy on genetically modified organisms
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in other EU languages desirable, particularly in French, Italian, Spanish or Polish
  • Minimum three years previous professional experience
  • Good communicator
  • Stress-resistant
  • Able to perform well independently and as part of a team
  • Management experience desirable

Monthly gross salary from 2,800 to 4,200 euro; depending on experience.
